We view drug addiction as a neurological condition. While it can't be entirely cured, it can be effectively managed into remission. Our Houma outpatient program is grounded in the science of addiction, considering biological and genetic factors in each personalized treatment plan.
For those who haven’t undergone detox, we offer this essential service, ensuring a safe and comfortable withdrawal process. Following detoxification, we conduct thorough assessments to understand the extent of your addiction and any mental health challenges, setting the stage for tailored treatment plans.
Despite the prevalence of addiction, many individuals never seek help due to shame or lack of awareness that addiction is a treatable illness. At NOLA Detox and Recovery Center, we emphasize that addiction should not be a source of shame but rather approached as any other illness, with understanding and professional support.
Our focus is on deconstructing the stigma surrounding alcoholism and assisting patients in overcoming any associated shame. Our medically supervised alcohol treatment program provides extensive support and resources, including a team of healthcare professionals and addiction experts dedicated to helping you achieve and maintain sobriety.

Detox, rest, and recovery is the first step. Each patient has access to 24-hour nursing care, doctor visits, and medications as needed to help with stabilization. As patients start to feel better, we discuss the science of addiction to better understand its impact and the path to recovery.
After stabilization, patients have a clearer understanding of their path to recovery and can start preparing to establish a new way of life. This phase includes participation in therapy services, recovery meetings, and other group activities.
During the action phase, patients are stabilized, hopeful, and better prepared for life in recovery. To encourage patients to start creating their new lifestyles, we have planned activities both on and off campus including field trips to the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, and other local attractions.
Our final treatment phase aims to give each patient a hopeful outlook about their future with a comprehensive plan to guide their life in recovery. Each patient participates in a graduation ceremony and leaves NOLA Detox with an individualized post-treatment plan.
Addiction treatment does not conform to a cookie-cutter approach. Everyone’s path to recovery is different, and we’re equipped to help our patients find and commit to theirs.
Once a patient is admitted, the NOLA Detox treatment plan ensures they have the time needed for recovery, with an attentive team of experts caring for them and all the comforts of a nice hotel.
By using medication-assisted treatment, we’re able to offer detox methods that are more comfortable for patients.
Medicine helps stabilize and put the brain into repair and transformation mode. Our medical treatments are based on neurobiological studies and designed to repair the long-term effects of drug use. Our aim is to guide each patient to wellness, not just sobriety.
We use progressive treatment modalities, including pharmaceuticals or non-pharmaceuticals that meet each patient’s needs, such as long-term injectables, like Sublocade and Vivitrol, as well as medication like Suboxone, which help patients meet their long-term recovery goals.
Our therapy practices are also evidence-based, following Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles.
During the initial phases of treatment, we also discuss the science of addiction with patients, helping them understand this illness and the key to recovery.
Before patients leave NOLA Detox, they are given individualized post-treatment plans to help them continue their life in recovery. We use technology to help with the transition, including care coordination apps, wearable devices, and digital therapeutics. Each patient is given a guide for after-care programs and services customized to their needs.
